The EU and futures of the Welfare States? 21st June, Stockholm
After more than ten years of attempt by the EU to coordinate welfare reforms ‘through open methods of coordination’, and while welfare reforms have been numerous and deep all over Europe, it is time to assess the state of the art concerning the influence of the EU on national welfare reforms. This reflexion is especially important in a period when the EU is redefining its strategy for the next 10 years, finalizing the Europe 2020 Agenda. Europe 2020 is largely based on similar principles as the Lisbon Strategy. For this reason it is now time to identify and discuss weaknesses as well as successes with the Lisbon Strategy to ensure that EU formulates an agenda that is strong enough to face the future we discern for Europe…
Researchers who have focused most of their work on the relationships between the EU and welfare state reforms will gather in Stockholm on the 21st of June for an open discussion aimed at reaching common grounds on what knowledge we have on EU and the welfare states.
This seminar is open for researchers working on European integration and Welfare States transformations. If this description is in line with your research profile, and you are interested in participating, please send an email to: jakob.larsson@framtidsstudier.se
There is a programme to the right.
